Baptism
Finally, after accepting Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, it is essential to find a Bible-believing church and get baptized as an additional layer of protection against spiritual opposition:
This is what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.
Rom. 6: 3-5 MSG
In Matthew 28, Jesus Himself instructed His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism does not save you; it is a step that follows accepting Jesus as your Savior. By obeying His word and getting baptized, we honor Him and open ourselves up to His blessings. God’s Word assures us that He never lies or breaks His promises.
